SECOND ANNUAL METROPOLIS NATIONAL RESEARCH COMPETITION
June 10, 2008
The Metropolis Project is pleased to announce its second annual
national research competition. This year, the research question is:
How has large-scale immigration transformed Canada's society and
economy? Previous work undertaken within the Metropolis Project has
largely focused on the immigration experience, well-being, and
outcomes for newcomers, but less attention has been devoted to the way
immigration has been influencing, benefiting, and challenging Canadian
society, the economy, and native-born Canadians. An appropriate
evaluation of the costs and benefits of an immigration policy requires
accounting for all citizens affected by migration, including
non-migrants.
The maximum value of this research grant is $125,000 for 12 to 18
months. Researchers affiliated with Canadian postsecondary educational
institutions are invited to submit a proposal by September 30, 2008.
