CiCe

Children’s Identity and Citizenship in Europe is one of the Erasmus programme’s Thematic Networks. Founded in 1998, we link some 90 universities in 20 European countries, all of whom are concerned with the education of people who will work professionally with children and young people, from birth to 20, in the area of understanding citizenship and developing identity. We are particularly concerned with these issues in the changing context of Europe.

CiCe has held annual conferences since 1999. We have a series of working parties who have prepared guideline documents on a wide range of issues for staff in Higher Education; we are developing a comprehensive web-based library of information; and a group of members are developing a European Masters Programme in Citizenship Education in Europe. Details of our activities can be found on our website at http://www.north.londonmet.ac.uk/cice/start.htm.

We welcome applications from Departments who would like to join the Network. We are currently planning a new major cycle of activities from October 2005, and new members would be very welcome to participate in these. Details on how to join may be obtained by email from cice@unl.ac.uk.
