  • Urban Futures, Södertälje, Sweden, May 10-12, 2001
    Swedish government expert meeting on urban policy developments and urban social transformations in Europe in the 21st Century. Themes include: Social and Economic Impact of International Migration on Metropolitan Areas; Good Urban Governance through Trans-European Networks and Sharing Best Practices in Metropolitan Areas.

  • Regional and Urban Development Conference, Amsterdam, June 15-17, 2001
    International Sociology Association: Research Committee on Regional and Urban Development, Conference on Social Inequality, Redistributive Justice and the City. Topics include : New Forms of Urban Governance; Challenges to Urban Governance for the 21st century; Planning, Values and the Built Environment, and; Globalization, Ethnicity and Migration.

  • Canadian Institute of Planners Conference, Ottawa, July 8-11, 2001
    CIP annual conference entitled: 2001: A Spatial Odyssey, Transforming Cities Transforming Planning. Themes include "Multiculturalism and francophonie".

  • Fifth Metropolis National Conference, Ottawa, October 16-20, 2001
    The first National Metropolis conference hosted by the Metropolis Project Team will focus on issues of policy and will showcase new directions for policy-led research. As at previous conferences, plenary and workshop topics will include: housing, socio-economic integration, community. The conference will feature a special session designed for municipal participants.

  • Sixth Metropolis International Conference, Rotterdam, November 26-30, 2001
    As at previous conferences, plenary and workshop topics will include: housing, socio-economic integration, community. There will be a follow-up workshop to the previous conference's session on Planning in a Multicultural Context.
